hpToday on Flashpoints, we remember the life of Hugo Pinell, a member of the San Quentin 6, who was killed yesterday during a prison riot in new Folsom Prison. Then, the Connecticut supreme court rules that 11 inmates cannot be executed, reaffirming the death penalty as cruel and unusual punishment. In the wake of the Animas toxic river spill by the EPA, a federal judge just ruled to allow the resumption of uranium mining in the grand canyon considered not only one of the most endangered sites in the world, but also considered sacred land by the havasupai first nation tribe. Then, we the continue our coverage of the fall out left in the wake of violence and irregularities this past Sunday during parliamentary elections in Haiti. Finally, we bring you a special report by Nora Barrows-Friedman and the electronic intifada.

We're searching for great new music produced by independent musicians and members of our global audience, so that we can be as non-corporate and copyright-free as possible. All genres -- from blues to electronica to world beats -- welcome!

We like smart, political and well-produced music -- and are especially in search of possible new theme instrumentals. Please send it to Flashpoints, c/o KPFA, 1929 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley, CA 94704, or email your Mp3s at flashpointsproducer@gmail.com with full descriptions and credits.
